Acceptable Use Policy

A little insight: An Acceptable Use Policy is a document/agreement that is created between the students and teacher about the use of technology. A home AUP is created between the children and parent(s)/guardian(s). Acceptable use policies make it easier for students to know their boundaries when they are using devices or the internet. This can stop them from seeing things on the computer that parents might not want the child seeing. This can also keep the students from getting distracted when he or she is supposed to be doing their work on a certain site.

Why to have a Home AUP: A Home AUP would allow parents to monitor what their kids do on the computer and other devices. This could help with situations such as the child seeing offensive content on the internet. This could also help with situations such as the child talking to strangers via the internet. One rule of a Home AUP could be "No playing on the internet or any devices when adults are not home to monitor you." A consequence of breaking this rule could be that the child loses access to those devices and the internet for a specific amount of time.
