Parental Involvement

Parental involvement is another key factor in a child's success in school. Study after study has shown that when parents are involved in their child's education, that child performs much better. Many parents associate their involvement with participating in activities in the school with their child. This is not the only way you can be involved. Simply checking your child's folder with them, keeping them accountable with their schoolwork, and reading aloud to them can have huge impacts on their performance and attitude toward school. If they see that you value their education, they will begin to value it as well. Kids should be given some responsibility for their actions, but we must also remember that they are still just kids. They are still developing that intrinsic sense of motivation and trying to understand why they have to go to school and learn certain things. If you are a parent or guardian of a student in my class, I challenge you to be as involved in their education as your schedule will allow. I will do my very best to provide a multitude of opportunities and suggestions for you to do just that. Below you can find some resources to help you better understand how important your role is in your child's education.
