No longer do teachers have to find textbooks or order
scientific journals that contain the data that they’ll need to help their
students learn the necessary information. Students can simply type the
subject matter they want to study into a search engine and find all the
information they need. Students can take notes of their findings digitally
and share it with the whole class. They can also create digital surveys and
create their own graphs, effectively making their own data without having to
ever leave the classroom. Technology is a part of the everyday lives of our
students. They are natives in this electronic age. Technology can be
integrated into a lesson to create an interactive and effective means of
engaging students in learning. Technology allows students to become an
active part of their own education, helping to promote critical thinkers and
independent learners. It also helps to prepare them for their future jobs.
The lesson plans below include a few ideas of how I plan to integrate
technology into my classroom. I used a Bee-Bot to teach coordinates on a
coordinate plane, HyperDocs to promote independent exploration of planet
growth, and QR Codes to give students a voice helping to create change in
the environment.
