Cyberbullying

Cyberbullying is any bullying that takes place on a device. This can include: computers, cell phones, tablets, or gaming systems. It also includes any bullying that happens on the internet like on social media, chat rooms, messaging apps, or anywhere that information could be posted, shared, or sent with negative, harmful, or embarrassing information about someone. In some cases, cyberbullying can even become illegal, and people have gone to jail for it. It is important to know about cyberbullying so that you do not participate in it, and so that you can stop someone else from participating in it.

If you see someone being cyberbullied, or you are being cyberbullied, here are some steps you can take: “Don’t respond to and don’t forward cyberbullying messages.Keep evidence of cyberbullying. Record the dates, times, and descriptions of instances when cyberbullying has occurred. Save and print screenshots, emails, and text messages. Use this evidence to report cyberbullying to web and cell phone service providers. Block the person who is cyberbullying.” You can always come to me, and I will help you and your child with the situation.
