Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do I access my child's homework assignments?

- All homework will be uploaded onto Google Sites and there is a link that takes you directly to it on the homepage of this website. The page is divided by subject and each subject is grouped by each nine weeks on the school year.

2. What if I do not always have internet or computer access?

- For those that do not have consistent computer or internet access, a paper copy of my lesson plan for each week will be included in the class newsletter sent home with your child every Friday. These newsletters entail the homework overview for the following week.

3. How do I get into contact with you?

- My email is bethany.schlesin@smail.astate.edu (No, that is not a typo. The last three letters of my last name are cut out of my email!!) and although I do check my email every day, if it is an emergency or time sensitive I would suggest texting me as I am much more quick to  respond in that regard. My cell phone number is (870) 680-3876.

4. What academic standards do you use and where can I access them?

- I use the Arkansas State Standards and I have each standard separated by subject here.

5. How do you handle absences and missed assignments?

- Please notify me ASAP of any scheduled absences so that I can provide them with the assignments in advance. I am aware that things happen and in the event of illness or family emergency, I will schedule a time during the day for them to make up any work they must complete at school. I will do my best to adjust to unforeseen circumstances but it is essential that your child is at school unless absolutely necessary.

6. Where can I access information about Digital Citizenship?

- You can access the Digital Citizenship website here, and for more information and resources provided by myself, here.

7. How do I help my child with technology that I know nothing about?

- There are tons of resources online that are available for anyone that is ready and willing to learn. A useful page that serves as an example can be found here and here.

8. What is your philosophy on teaching?

- My teaching philosophy, as well as other information about myself as an educator, can be found here.

9. How is learning personalized in your classroom?

- During the first couple weeks of school, I assess each student's preferred learning style and refer back to those results throughout the year. I include auditory, visual, and kinesthetic teaching methods whenever possible, however it is very helpful to know a student's preference in the event that they require additional assistance or instruction.

10. What learning models do you use in the classroom?

-  I am a big believer in hands-on learning, whether that be projects, games, or interactive discussion. Students learn best when they are having fun!
