Acceptable Use Policy
(Continued)
Plagiarism
is any variation of the act of taking credit
for work that isn't yours. This can be
anything from copying off your neighbor's work to turning in someone else's work
as your own.
My classroom has a zero-tolerance policy for any form of plagiarism.
Copyright is
the legal right acquired by the creator of any type of material to use their
property and give
others permission to use that property as well. Copyright can be acquired for
physical as well as intellectual property. This can range
anywhere from the name of a company to a product like a book or movie.
Fair Use is the belief within
law that allows reasonable use of copyrighted material without acquiring
permission from the owner. Fair use can be utilizedfor research, commentary, critisism, news reporting, and many others,
but it is a very gray area in regard to its legal usage under the law.
