Copyright and Fair Use Policies 

Copyright:
the exclusive legal right, given to an originator or an assignee to print, publish, perform, film, or record literary, artistic, or musical material, and to authorize others to do the same

Policy: students must ask permission before using a copyrighted work or use images/articles that are licensed under Creative Commons.

Fair Use: copyright material may, under certain circumstances, be quoted verbatim for purposes such as criticism, news reporting, teaching, and research, without the need for permission from or payment to the copyright holder.

Policy: copyrighted material may be used in the classroom if used for any of the above purposed or permission from the publisher has been granted.
