What is Flexible Seating and why is it important?

Personally, I do not do well with sitting in one spot all day. Movement in the classroom can come in many forms; one way that I advocate for movemet in the classroom is through flexible seating. Flexible seating removes the standard desk and chair setting, and offers freedom of choice and comfort for the students. I also believe that students should feel free to stand up, stretch, and go to the bathroom without having to ask for permission or feeling embarassed. Flexible seating is one way to develop a student centered classroom that will increase collaboration, engagement, and motivation.

“It really says to kids that we trust you to choose where you learn best...the more power you give up the more power you get back! ”
