What is Bullying?
Bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior among
school aged children that involves a real or perceived power imbalance.
Bullying includes actions such as making threats, spreading rumors,
attacking someone physically or verbally, and excluding someone from a group
on purpose.
My role as a teacher?
Teacher's are on the frontline when it comes to
stopping the bullying of students, but are often unaware of many instances
that occur within their own classroom. As a teacher, I refuse to just accept
that is the way it has to be and will stand up for those who can't or don't
know how to staand up for themselves. I pledge to protect my students and
their right to learn and enjoy school without being threatened, terrorized,
or picked on. Along with following our school's policies on bullying, I will
intentionally educate my students on the subject, give clear expectations,
explain boundaries, and specific classroom policies in place. I will always
make sure my kids know that I am a safe place for them to voice their
concerns if they feel bullied.
