Hello
parents! My name is Alexis Primm and I am your child’s 3rd grade
teacher this year. I go by miss Lexi with my students because its shorter in
syllables and is easier to say, sound out, and spell for my youngins.
As you
watch this video, you will hear me discuss a little bit about myself, I
would like for all my parents to feel as if they know me on a personal level
and can come to me for just about anything. I will also be discussing a
little bit about my teaching philosophy and how I like and why I integrate
technology in the classroom.
I grew
up in Bono, AR just about 10 minutes outside of Jonesboro, AR. I went to
Westside my entire grade school career and graduated from there in 2015.
After high school, I attended Arkansas State Newport- Jonesboro Campus for 2
years and received my Associates degree soon after that I transferred to
Arkansas State University. Throughout my college career I worked at westside
schools ASC/SC program. During my time there I met many challenges as well
as many of what are now wonderful teenagers. When I left westside I began to
work at MKSA. These two jobs allowed me to get my foot in the door and
helped me realize that I wanted to be a teacher. That’s when I decide to
apply for the Elementary education program. I began the program in the fall
of 2019 and graduated with my bachelors in education in May of 2021. In
college I volunteered a lot though UCP with my grandmother and even was a
member of ZETA and did a lot of volunteering through our philanthropy of
bringing awareness to breast cancer. My whole life I have been a member of
Community of Christ and have served my time as the activities director and
Winter fest camp director since 2019. In 2020 I was voted in as the youth
pastor which I still hold today.
In the
future I plan to apply for a masters program in education. Nothing would
make me happier than to further my education and maybe one day go even
farther than just a masters level.
Being
an educator means you are exposed to many different philosophies but my
philosophy has been formed over the last few years, In my opinion, I believe
that my classroom should always be a safe place not only for my students but
for their parents as well. In my class we address each other as friends
because I would like for all my students to see each other as someone they
can go to as a friend including me.
I also believe in individualization.
As each student shall feel as their own person, have their own personality,
and a voice in my class. Goals, involved in the community, building
relationships, and parental involvement
Integrating technology for me is a must. With todays generations of
children, they are exposed to so many technological devices but they never
really learn how to use them educationally. In my classroom I plan to have
my students be exposed to the world of learning through theses devices. My
students will be able to know the correct credible sources, and be able to
know the rules to the internet and how to use it safely. I have personally
picked several websites, apps, and programs for my students to use and that
they can carry on throughout their school career.
In
closing I would like to thank each of you for taking the time to watch this
