Cyberbullying

Cyberbullying is the use of technology to hurt another person. These people use the internet to harass and embarass others. With the use of technology in todays society, it is easier than ever to cyberbully.

Why is learning about cyberbullying so important?

At one time, bullying was confined to just classrooms. This way, the bullying could be diffused by teachers or other adults within the school. With cyberbullying, things are a little different. The bullying is mostly online, and without a student notifying an adult, they usually have no clue that it's occuring. Learning about cyberbullying is important, because as parents (or teachers) we must talk to our children about cyberbullying, and establish rules for using technology so that these children know exactly what they should and should not be doing when they are online.

In my classroom, all forms of bullying are not allowed, this including cyberbullying. There are major consequences if your child is performing any form of bullying, with the minimum including a principal's office visit. If you are concerned about your child, please contact me as soon as possible.
