Student Food Insecurity

So many students come from homes in which the family struggles financially, which can often lead to food insecurity. For many students in situations like this, they rely on the school to provide them with the majority of the food that they are going to eat for the day. As a teacher, how can I expect all of my students to learn when I know that some of my students are hungry while sitting in their desks? One step that I have taken personally is to keep quick and easy snacks in my classroom, such as crackers, chips, and waters. While that is a step in the right direction, what else can we, as a community, do to improve the food security of our students?
