Plagiarism

Plagiarism has been defined as "the act of using another person's words or ideas without giving credit to that person." Stealing someone else's ideas without giving them proper credit is as bad as stealing from the store. A teacher may not catch a student who only borrows a few phrases, but we need to remember to give credit where credit is due.

It is important for kids to be able to research a topic on any type of search engine, think about it, and then form an opinion or critique over what they have read. This is an important skill that elementary students to college students have to learn. Students who just take information and other peoples opinions will not develop the critical thinking skills that they will need.
