Copyright is a way that people can protect things that they have created. Copyrighting is a way to prove that your work is yours and yours alone. If you want to use something that is copyrighted, you have to make sure and obtain permission from the person who orginally created the document or work.

Fair Use means that there are special times when it is okay to borrow parts of someones copyrighted work. For example of fair use a teacher can use a lesson on a book that he or she didn't write.
