On-line Safety
On-line safety covers both personal safety and security risks while online. It also encompasses all devices that have access to the internet. Personal safety can be jeopardized by giving personal information to unsecured websites or ficticious people on the internet. Many children using technology see things they love advertized. For a child, this is hard to ignore. They want it and see no problem with giving information to get it. Just one click, and an identity theif is having a field-day. As hard as it may be for them, we have to instill in our youth how important it is to be cautious on-line. There are people in the world who take advantage of children, stalking them and harrassing them. This poses a great risk as well. Children also need to beware of malicious websites, harmful software, viruses, and bugs. All these things will damage your computer hardware and software. Telling children to stay away from unknown sites is the best way to prevent this from happening. If they happen to stumble upon something they aren't sure about, have them let you know.
