Copyright/Fair Use Laws |
Copyright - an exclusive legal right given to a creator of an
intellectual property for the use of that property, and to authorize
others to use it. An intellectual property is anything that someone
creates out of their mind, such as an invention or a work of art. Fair Use - In U.S. law, it is the ability for some to use a brief excerpt of copyright material without permission based on certain criteria, like educational use. Another example of fair use is in transformational work, where someone takes copyright material and makes their own new intellectual work out of it, like a parody. |
