Dear Parents:
My name Nate Tiner and I have the honor of teaching your child in
the 8th Grade. I am looking forward to a great year. In
my class, like all classes, there are rules. We will use computers
and other technology in our class, so there are rules for technology
and internet use as well. In my class, our rules are a part of our
Acceptable Use Policy or AUP. To best implement these rules in my
class, I ask that you would consider creating an at-home AUP for
your child to follow as well. I believe consistency is vital for a
student both at home and in school, and the more consistent rules
are at both home and school, the better the chance for proper
learning and achievement. I believe having a AUP at home and in the
classroom will show the student that we are on the same page about
their learning. I want to
emphasize that I am not suggesting any specific rules for you to
implement in your home, but rather have a written set of directions
or a contract to sign just as I have sent home with your student. I
would suggest making it a contract and reward your student when they
honor it. There is a template below that will help you get started
on an AUP if you choose to create one for your student. There is
also a link to our classroom AUP along with how to contact me. If
there are any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out
to me.
Sincerely,
Nate Tiner
