The World Health Organization defines mental and behavioral health as "clinically significant conditions characterized by alterations in thinking, mood (emotions) or behavior associated with personal distress or impaired functioning."

Mental and behavioral health are an imperative part of a person's development. This development, both physically and mentally, must be administered to and fostered throughout a person's life to maintain that wellness and growth.
