The internet can be a wonderful resource for kids, but it can also be a danger. Online access comes with risks like inappropriate content, online predators, and cyberbullying. Children can be easily prodded to share personal information or pictures with strangers online. There are several internet safety laws meant to protect our children, but there is only so much good it can do. It is up to parents to teach their children the basic guidelines to follow online, while also monitoring what their kids are accessing through the screen. I encourage you to develop an Acceptable Use Policy at home with your child so they are kept safe and educated on the reality of the internet.
