Copyright and Fair Use
Copyright:
Copyright is someone’s right to their work and they can decide if someone else can use it or not. If someone has copyrighted their work, then other people cannot use it without their permission first. If a work is copyrighted, do not use it in your own work before asking your teacher.
Fair Use Policies:
Fair use policies though give some leeway to copyrighted works and means we can use some things that are copyrighted. They are in place so that schools, teachers, and students can use copyrighted works in an educational nature (means intended to help someone learn).
No matter if the work is copyrighted or not, we want to make sure to give credit to the author and that we are okay to use the work. If you are unsure about using something, just ask and we will find out!
