Educational Philosophy

Teachers are significant in our society because we need them to provide our youth with the knowledge and social experiences that the students will need to improve their future and the future of the entire world. I believe every child has the potential to bring something unique and special to the world. As a future teacher, I hope to be able to influence many students and to help them understand what education can do for each of them in their future. My goal as a math educator is to help students meet their full potential which will help them grow emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. My classroom will be a safe and caring environment, that supports risk-taking and invites the sharing of ideas freely. I have had this vision of the world where people learn to respect, accept, and embrace the difference between us, because our differences are the center of what makes life captivating. I hope that my dedication can leave an impact for my students to look deeper into who they are and truly change the world.

As a teacher, my role is to promote learning, providing access to information, as students inquire for knowledge increases as they learn to pose questions and find answers to their questions. For most students, I believe they need the opportunity to discover for themselves and practice those new skills in the right situations. When students want to give up and may have a sense of defeat, I hope to be their support system to push them to keep them going as they fight through each struggle. I want to provide students access to hands-on activities and that will suitable time and space to use materials that strengthen their knowledge and create the opportunity for individual discovery of that knowledge to occur.

I hope to help every student I encounter develop love and respect for themselves, others, and their environment. Class meetings are one way to encourage my students to learn more about this. I also believe children have greater respect for their teachers, peers, and the lessons presented when they know what is expected of them. If students are shown respect for their presence and time then in return, they learn to respect themselves, others, and their environment.

For me as an educator, teaching provides an opportunity for learning and growth. One of my goals is to install a love for learning in my students as I share my passion for teaching and learning with them. I feel there is a need for empathetic, reliable, and dedicated individuals who are excited about working with children. In our society, it is essential for students to not only receive a solid education but to work with someone aware of and subtle to their individual needs. I am that person and will always strive to be the best educator that I can be.

Teaching is a lifelong learning process, built around learning about new philosophies and new strategies and learning from everyone around me especially learning from my students. When observing a class, the children taught me to open my awareness and my heart to the enjoyments, the innocence, and the diversity of ideas in the world. Thanks to this, I will never forget how to smile with the new, cherish the old, and laugh with the children as the years go by. To me, becoming a teacher means leaving an impact and watching the process my students must go through in order to learn, because education is the only direct source to change the world.
